AUDIENCES will immerse themselves in underwater cinematography as a film festival rides into Oxfordshire.

Spectators can watch as surfers splash on the big screen at the Ocean Film Festival World Tour, which will stop by at Abingdon School this autumn.

The programme features a cluster of short ocean-themed films shown back-to-back at a two-hour screening, with Abingdon selected as one of 30 towns and cities in the UK as hosts.

A spokesperson for the event said: "This year features an exceptional and diverse programme of films capturing the raw power and beauty of the Ocean, whilst celebrating the surfers, kayakers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray, chase the crests of waves and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue.

"Featuring awe-inspiring underwater scenes and fast-paced wave sequences that have been captured from unbelievable vantage points, each of the festival’s films also convey a deep respect and appreciation for the world’s oceans and the creatures that call them home."

Audiences can gather at the Amey Theatre in the private boys' school on September 10 at 7.30pm.

In March the school in Park Road hosted the Banff Film Festival by the same producers, which celebrated extreme sports.
