PLANS for 600 new homes are causing great concern in the Thame community, reports the town council.
Thame Town Council members have discussed many times the South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) local plan, and the implications hundreds of new homes will have on the area's infrastructure.
There is also worry about the Vale of Aylesbury Local plan which suggests an extra 5,550 homes close to Haddenham, only several miles from Thame.
A spokesperson for the town council said: "As with the last Local Plan proposals from SODC there is expected to be much concern in the local community.
"It is critical that the town and its residents respond to the consultation on August 19, highlighting the impacts on Thame, and at the same time making positive suggestions for how the proposed developments can be delivered across South Oxfordshire as a whole."
SODC is hosting a public event this Saturday in Thame Town Hall, from 11am to 3pm. The town council is encouraging all residents to attend at 11am, so they can see first-hand what is proposed, and can make comments to the SODC representatives there.
Thame Town Council will be holding its own public meeting on the topic in mid-July to help inform its own response to the consultation.
