MORE volunteers are needed to get Oxford's festival of free table tennis in full swing this summer.

Ping! Oxford will be returning on Sunday, June 19 and will see free table tennis activities available at parks and venues across the city for eight weeks.

But organisers at Oxford City Council say they are looking for volunteers, known as Ping! Makers, to help make this year's festival be the best it can be by helping put out bats and balls and challenging people to games.

Ian Brooke, head of communications at Oxford City Council, said: "Volunteering in sport is a fantastic way to give something back to our communities and often a great way to get outdoors, keep active and meet new people.

"Ping! has been a great success in Oxford with more than 74,000 people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds participating."

For the first time, Oxford City Council will also be setting up a pop up Ping! Pong Parlour, which will be hosted at Wahoo & The Glee Club in Hythe Bridge Street.

Seven tables will be available every Tuesday between 3pm and 10pm, and every Thursday and Sunday between 12pm and 7pm.

There will also be coaching, games and competitions for all ages and abilities and all equipment will be available.

Pop-up tables will also be appearing at community events this summer, including Flofest, Headington Festival, Energise Rose Hill, Race for Life, and the Leys Festival and Horticultural Show.

To volunteer, register here before Friday, May 20: ww.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PingMaker2016.
