LONDON MARATHON: Sponsors unite to back 'Robbo'

Oxford Mail: Les Robinson Les Robinson

FORMER Oxford United captain Les Robinson, who now works as a PE teacher at a school that caters for children with complex learning needs, ran to raise funds for the Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools (Imps), a charity which helps his pupils.

The dad-of-two, 45, said: “I’m a little bit stiff to be honest with you.

“I didn’t realise there was a brick wall across the course at the 20-mile mark. My time was three hours 54.

“The crowd was amazing and me being me and working with kids I made sure every kid got a high five – but after 10 miles I had to give that up.

“I had my Oxford United shorts on, I had my Swalcliffe Park School T-shirt on and my Imps vest.”

So far Les has raised £1,250 for the charity and is hoping that the final donations will push his total up to £1,500.
