Movie star's Desert Island Flicks aid appeal

OSCAR-WINNING actor Sir Ben Kingsley is hosting a fundraising talk in Charlbury on Thursday.
Sir Ben, who has appeared in many Hollywood movies including his Oscar-winning performance in Gandhi and Schindler’s List, will talk about his career and influences for the Desert Island Flicks event at the War Memorial Hall, in Browns Lane, at 8pm on Thursday.
Tickets cost £20 and all proceeds will go to the Charlbury Community Centre Appeal Fund, which aims to build a new community facility the Spendlove Centre site in the town centre.
Film clips will be shown and Sir Ben will be in discuss them with film director Graham Ralph.

Appeal spokesman Alison Wright said: “We are delighted that Sir Ben is giving up his time to help us in this way.”
In February, Sir Ben, who lives in Spelsbury, near Charlbury, supported a campaign for a new digital projector at Chipping Norton cinema, which secured £23,000 in donations.
