A 30-YEAR-OLD man, with an 11-pint-a-day alcohol addiction, bit off the top of his partner’s finger at a party.
Richard Grindle, of Poplars Road, Chacombe, near Banbury, bit off and spat out the tip of Nada Mansell’s right little finger in an argument on June 15.
Having earlier admitted a charge of unlawful wounding, he was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.
Kevin West, prosecuting, said the father-of-two and his girlfriend were both alcoholics and had been drinking all day ahead of the party in Banbury.
Mr West said: “Witness Paul Butler was present. He said there was an argument going on between the two of them. All of a sudden, Mr Grindle smacked her in the face...causing a black eye. There was a bit of a tussle and at that point he bit off the top of her little finger – and spat it out.”
Lucy Tapper, defending, said Grindle, was “a man otherwise with decent standards and morals”.
Grindle was given 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
