The women who ran our pubs certainly knew how to party.
The six pictured here, dressed in all their finery, were among those who attended the annual banquet and ball of the Oxford and District Licensed Victuallers’ Women’s Auxiliary.
It was held in Oxford on November 1, 1955.
The picture comes from Bert Dowler, of Bodicote Road, Banbury, who had close connections with Oxford pubs in his role as free retail representative for Hunt Edmunds brewery at Banbury.
He is third from the right. Can anyone name the rest?
