THE Oxford and District Cat Club held its first Twelfth Night party, with one surprise omission – there were no cats.

President Mrs Graham Green explained: “I am sorry to say that cats are not co-operative at parties. They all want exclusive attention – dogs are far more sociable.”

The party at the Wesley Memorial Hall in New Inn Hall Street, Oxford, in 1966, marked the end of the Christmas period and the day when the Three Wise Men visited the infant Jesus.

The guest was Sheila Holt, who was playing the title role in the New Theatre pantomime Puss in Boots.

She is pictured talking to two members, Virginia Sheppard and Jennifer Wiblin.
