The Wingfield fete was one of the most popular summer events in Oxford.
Although the Wingfield Hospital had become the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, the fete retained its original name.
This picture, taken in 1986, shows Sally Reynolds, seven, left, and her sister Jessica, four, from Iffley, enjoying the fun of the fair.
They were among more than 3,000 people at the fete, which raised £3,000 for hospital funds. The highlight was the KD motorcycle team display, who rode over cars and through blazing hoops.
