Grove Church of England Primary School launched an appeal in 1990 to raise £12,000 for a new minibus. The existing bus was due to be retired in two years, but parents didn’t want to leave fundraising until the last minute. Events planned included a May fair, summer ball and a cow drop, with the children guessing where in a field of cows the cowpats would land.
Grove Show attracted the usual large crowds in 1987. Among the visitors were, left to right, Penelope Payne, Charlotte Marshall and Lindsey Newman, pictured feeding the goats.
Gymnasts at Millbrook Junior School entered their first competition – the Oxfordshire Schools’ Championships – in 1980 and won the team trophy. Tracy West takes a leap, watched by Alison Roberts, Lisa Singleton, Angela Whiting, Marie Hornblow, Joanne Prentice and Hazel Baxterdale.
