All sorts of weird and wonderful costumes featured in the village society’s annual fancy dress walk in 1986. Among those taking part were Lesley Grice, left, and Steven Andrews who clowned about before the 94 walkers set off around the village.
Colin Fergusson, Sheila Loy and Murray Esplin were among the cast of Cold Comfort Farm, a production by Blewbury Players in 1986. Hilary Francis, head of drama at Didcot Girls’ School, had adapted Stella Gibbons’s 1930s’ novel for the stage.
The village playgroup’s fair had to be moved from a garden into the village hall because of bad weather in 1986, but it was still a success, with £478 raised towards the group’s running costs. The playgroup catered for more than 40 youngsters aged three to five.
