Children aged eight to 16 spent their Saturday mornings at John Mason School making music. South Oxfordshire Music School, formerly Abingdon Music School, welcomed string, woodwind, brass, percussion and recorder players. The violinists are pictured in action in 1986.
Students spent five weeks drawing and painting murals on the corridor walls in a building at the College of Further Education in 1986. Elaine Aldridge and Sue Haythornthwaite are seen working on one of the panels.
Pupils at Larkmead School were encouraged to get into the habit of saving their pennies. The school ran a savings club in association with the Leeds Permanent Building Society. Pictured left to right in 1986 are Julie Harvey, 18, David Holmes, 13, Michael Bushell and Nicola Brawn, both 11.
