Florence Gabel admires a floral display by Brownies at a flower festival in the village church in 1986. It was one of more than 20 on show from village groups. Joy Tame organised the event, proceeds from which went towards church improvements.

South Oxon Amateur Players (Soap) staged a pantomime n 1987, with local twists. Dick Whittington became Dick Wittenham and he didn’t set out for London, preferring a shorter route to streets paved with gold, in Berinsfield. Sue Dawson, above, played the title role.

The village school celebrated American Independence Day in 1990 with an American-themed day. Three pupils appeared as Red Indians – left to right, Claire Shipton, seven, Jennifer Spearce, seven, and Angharad Barnes, six.
