When these youngsters, above, found their play area becoming overgrown, they didn’t complain – they set to work. Within a short time, the playground off Morton Close was almost clear of weeds. Carol Lambert, who helped with the operation, said: “They were just sitting there and decided to clean it up. They have made a fantastic difference.”
There were smiles all round when the Kidlington and Gosford swimming pool opened in 1975. The plaque listing the sponsors was unveiled by Robert Weir, chairman of Oxfordshire County Council, during a special ceremony.
Young fencing enthusiasts developed their skills at the village sports hall in Kidlington. Instructor Fred Vincent is seen demonstrating the lunge to Andrew Bradley in 1970, while other members look on trying to get a few tips.
