Julie Moscrop, left, and her sister Lorna, 10, are pictured on the dodgems at Carterton Gala in 1985. The day began with a parade of floats through the town, headed by gala queen Sarah Ridgers. Later, thousands of visitors enjoyed a host of arena events, stalls and sideshows.
A heritage fair in the town in 1986 put the spotlight on past and present industry and crafts and environmental groups in the district. Stephanie Gill, 10, is pictured making bobbin lace, which was a popular hobby.
