A BLACKSMITH, a thatcher and a potter were among craftsmen and women at a craft fair at Finstock Primary School in 1984.

But it was the efforts of the soft toy makers which won the affection of two-year-old Alexander Connolly.

The event was organised jointly by the village school and playgroup, which shared the profits.

There were more than 15 different crafts on display including soft-toy makign, embroidery work, knitting and corn-dolly work in which some of the children also took part.

The headteacher Mr Ray Barr said it was the third time the fair had been held and he was “pleased at the way links between the school and playgroup” had been made.
