- Pupils from schools in the town contributed to an art exhibition at Henry Box School in 1986. Among them was Katy Bristow, six, with her ‘pasta picture’.
- Sixth-formers at Wood Green School formed a company called Vision as part of a business enterprise project in 1986. It sold cards, refuse sacks, headed notepaper and ran a catering service and coach trips. Harriet Griffin, five, of Batt School, who designed a card for the company, is pictured with, left to right, art director Simon Knox, managing director Peter Elliott and secretary Kate Wardle.
