Sir – I suspect I am not alone in regretting the significant reduction in local concert reviews in the new-style Weekend section of The Oxford Times.

Those of us who are involved in amateur music used to welcome the impartial views expressed in your paper, both of our own performances and other people’s. They kept us on our toes, even if we did not always agree with them! Our audiences, too, liked to compare their opinions with those of your critics. We can read reviews of London concerts in the national press but look to The Oxford Times to cover those nearer home.

There is a vast amount of music-making in the Oxford area. Let’s hear about it, please.
