A WOMAN was treated for smoke inhalation after an ‘explosion’ at a house in East Oxford yesterday.
Fire crews were called to Morrell Avenue at about 10.15am and firefighters blocked off the road until midday while they carried out checks to make sure the property and surrounding homes were safe.
Neighbours reported hearing a loud explosion and said they called fire crews.
One woman, who asked not to be named, said: “We all heard a bang. “From looking now, there appears to have been some sort of explosion in the top bedroom.
“It’s burnt out and it looks like it has shattered the window.
“God knows what it was.”
Thames Valley Police said the fire, which was in the second floor bedroom, is not being treated as suspicious.
