Sir – The Jubilee Fund for Oxfordshire was inspired by Her Majesty the Queen’s dedication and commitment to community service during her 60-year reign and has received widespread support throughout the county. Our Jubilee Fund has only been made possible by the generosity of our supporters, and I would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has donated, especially those who have given anonymously, and who I haven’t been able to thank personally. Our first Diamond Grant has just been awarded to Special Effect, a dazzling group, which leaves us in awe of their “can do determination and caring collaborations”.

Now we are looking for our next ‘Diamond Grant’ winner, and would love to receive suggestions and nominations from local people who have been inspired by dedicated teams of volunteers providing caring support and running community activities across Oxfordshire. Each Diamond Grant, worth £5,000, will be awarded at the discretion of OCF’s experienced and independent grants panel throughout the year and subject to its usual due diligence. Any group, irrespective of size, income and purpose, will be considered and winners will be chosen on merit. There is no formal application but instead we are asking for 600 dazzling words why a group should be considered for a Diamond Grant. Please write from the heart — we want “less information and more inspiration”. We can ask for facts and figures later. Alternatively email us the name of a group and their contact details and we will do the rest. Please e-mail: diamond@oxfordshire.org or post to: Oxfordshire Community Foundation, 3 Woodin’s Way, Oxford, OX1 1HD. Please take the time to support a local group which has dazzled you and give them the chance to become an Oxfordshire Diamond.
