Sir – In your paper last week, the planning officer who spoke about the Headington application as the second worst one he’d seen may well (along with many Oxford residents) be thinking that new student flats in Roger Dudman Way is the very worst. The loss of views and the rural nature of the area are deeply upsetting. The final build seems much more imposing than early plans suggested. It is wrong of the council to claim there were no comments on the proposals.

There have been concerns on the dangerous access, roof heights, the threat to wildlife and the lack of parking. And I feel sorry for anyone who has to bear the noise and pollution from the railway sidings adjacent to these new flats. The council and University have been ignorant of the concerns of existing residents; shame on them.
