VERY grateful to ViewPoints for publishing my letter (Political philosophy has big effect on education, October 1), in which I managed incorrectly to state that Michael Gove killed off ‘Partnership for Schools’ in October, 2012. It was in fact October 2010, just a few weeks after Gove and his officials had suppressed the ‘Partnership’s’ positive report on ‘Building Schools for the Future’ (BSF). As for the present, we now hear that schools which might be built on Michael Gove’s watch will be ‘shrunken’, that is about 15 per cent smaller than those built during the BSF programme, leading to fears of potential overcrowding in corridors and assembly halls which won’t then be suitable for community functions after hours. Nice one, Mr Gove!
