SUPER fast broadband is on its way to Kidlington as BT continues to roll out the service across the UK.
About 7,000 homes and businesses in the area are expected to benefit.
The latest development will help take the number of premises in Oxfordshire with access to fibre optic broadband to around 170,000 by the end of 2013.
Internet users could enjoy speeds of up to 330 megabytes-per-second.
BT south east regional director John Weaver said: “The advent of fibre broadband in Kidlington is a massive fillip for businesses and households in the area. It will enrich people’s lives and bring a much-needed boost to businesses in these economically challenging times.
“They’re joining 11 million UK premises which are now passed by one of the world’s fastest growing fibre networks. Fibre broadband will offer local firms and households new ways of working flexibly and allow large data and video files to be sent and received almost instantly.”
Kidlington Parish Council chairman David Betts said: “This is important, particularly as there are a lot of businesses in Kidlington, and quite high-tech businesses, so I think this will be a massive tick in the box.”
