My concern about the expansion of Windmill Primary School is that the timescale for the process of consultation and decision won’t leave much time for action at the end.
I have three children at Windmill and they love it. We wouldn’t want that jeopardised for future generations.
Although adding classrooms might be feasible, adding this many new pupils and the staff that will be needed to look after them will require a rethink of the whole infrastructure.
Where will they eat, play and do sports? (The county wouldn’t want to put those new classrooms on the playing field, would they?) A decision is only due next year; and precious little time will be available to make the major changes necessary to make this work well.
