THE new Oxford United chairman and the club should hang their heads in shame.
I’m an Oxford United supporter and season-ticket holder and I feel totally ripped off by the ticket prices for the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Most fans would agree that this is a mickey mouse competition which they’re only interested in when there is a possible trip to Wembley.
Most clubs would feel that this is a total waste of time and they would rather do without the distraction from the league.
However, Oxford had the draw all U’s supporters wanted – Swindon Town.
Surprise, surprise, good old Oxford decide to rip off their loyal supporters and hike the admission prices up.
I think I’m right in saying that the ticket price for the same first round last year was about £10.
As a season-ticket holder, I had to pay £17 last week. All U’s supporters wish the club to do well financially, but taking your own fans to the cleaners isn’t one of the ways to achieve this.
With the hiked prices perhaps Oxford might, just might, buy a player rather than doing the cheap option of signing loan players.
