A DATE has been set for the council meeting to decide the fate of Barton West .
City councillors have to debate proposals for the 1200-home estate again after changes were made to the Barton Area Action Plan following last month’s public hearings.
Oxford City Council ’s planned changes to the A40 were scrapped, as were plans to build houses facing on to the dual carriageway.
Inspector Shelagh Bussey expressed concerns about lowering the speed limit to 40mph. This and other elements of the plans have been removed and these changes are out for public consultation before being decided by city councillors at Town Hall on Thursday, September 20, at 5.30pm.
Councillors will also discuss plans for houses on the opposite side of the A40, owned by Ruskin College which is eager to develop the land.
