OXFORD was on show this week when judges from Britain in Bloom toured the city.

It is the first time since 2007 that the city has entered the Royal Horticultural Society contest.

Organisers decided to resurrect the entry to revive interest in Oxford’s own bloom competition.

Parks and open spaces manager Stuart Fitzsimmons said: “It is great to see Oxford entered into the Britain in Bloom competition this year.

“We have had a good day showing the judges around the city, highlighting our commitment to the environment, getting communities together and ensuring that our park and open spaces look at their best.

“We are looking forward to finding out how well we have done in September.”

The judges are pictured here at Cutteslowe Park, which was one of four city parks to have been awarded a Green Flag, the gold standard for parks and open spaces.

Next week judges from Oxford in Bloom will visit the gardens which have been entered in the city competition.
