The number of people out of work and claiming benefits in Oxfordshire fell for the fourth month in a row in June to 7,034 or (1.7 per cent) – down 318 from the previous month and 558 from the same month last year.
All districts of the county saw drops in the claimant count except West Oxfordshire where the figure rose by 16 to 850 or (1.3 per cent).
Nationally the number of people out of work fell by 65,000 to 2.58 million in the three months to May, according to the Office for National Statistics.
However, the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance rose by 6,100 to 1.6 million in June.
