THE artistic talents of staff and children have been on show at an arts exhibition at an Oxford primary school.

Artwork, including large installations, went on display, music was performed and the St Aloysius Primary School youngsters staged their version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The event is in aid of the St Luigi care centre in South Africa, which looks after orphaned children and is supported by the Woodstock Road school. Kate LeFevre’s two sons, Dexter, nine, above right, and Vincent 11, were both involved, with sketches and poetry by Dexter displayed in the exhibition and Vincent playing the role of Bottom in the play.

Ms LeFevre, from Summertown, said: “It was really impressive, it was ambitious but I think they pulled it off.”

Anthony O’Mahony, from Marston, was there with his son Benedict, above left, who contributed to the artwork.

Mr O’Mahony said: “It was a great event and they put a lot of effort into it.”

Teacher Maxine Baker said about £1,800 had been raised for the cause.

She said: “It showed the compassion of so many people for an amazing cause which we will continue to support.”
