THE magical world of Neverland was brought to life in a puppetry show by youngsters in Oxford.
Children from SS Philip and James in Jericho, pictured, made their own puppets to put on a performance of JM Barrie’s classic novel Peter Pan .
The 12 children, aged seven to nine, practised for weeks before the performance on Friday at the Burton Taylor Studio.
Learning support assistant Amanda Morley, who started the after school puppetry club, said: “It was a roaring success. It was sold out and we have had some fabulous comments.”
Packed into the audience for the two performances were parents, classmates, teachers and members of public.
The children were also behind the speaking parts and made some of the scenery and music.
Ms Morley said: “We were trying to find ways to get children motivated to read. There was a lot of poetic licence and the children really used their imaginations.”
