ON Saturday, June 23 you ran an article on the Blackbird Leys park and I applaud those responsible for creating a plan to improve the area.

However, I would like to inform all members of the public that the Town Green application is far from over.

In March the county council planning committee refused the request to turn the park into a Town Green, but at that meeting, members from the Blackbird Leys 14 did state they would seek a judicial review and to that end the process is progressing.

A legal team has advised there is a chance of success in this bid.

Because of the judicial system this could take some time, but what people must understand is there is a process that must be concluded in order for any action to start on this green space.

Theoretically the council could start work, but if the Town Green application succeeds, then they will have to restore the area to its previous state and this would cost even more money from the taxpayers and be very short-sighted.

Until someone decides otherwise, members of the public will continue to defend this vital space.
