DURING my 30 years living in Iffley Fields, I have had occasion to call on the city council workers for help many times.

The employees who have responded have been unfailingly polite, efficient, helpful and have done a good job. These include garbage collectors, and those running Redbridge, parks employees, vermin control, blocked drain attendants, housing departments and, just recently, the dog warden.

Why are the Oxford city and Oxfordshire county councillors so much the opposite?

Why tear down Temple Cowley Pools (of course, the site will be worth a great deal of money for building flats)? Why not build a second pool at Blackbird Leys?

This is only one example of the greed and thoughtlessness of our councils. If it is standing up, knock it down. Buses taking people into town must park on the edge of town – London bus companies taking in more profit now fill our city.

When are we going to get councillors who care what the people of Oxford want and need?

We need Redbridge. It’s great. It’s near us. Why spend thousands of pounds driving us out to beyond Kidlington?
