A DRUNK man has admitted yelling racist abuse outside a Didcot pub.
Anthony James was ejected from the Wallingford Arms in The Broadway in the early hours of Sunday, June 24.
When police arrived at about 2.20am he turned to the pub and shouted racist abuse about an Asian man.
James admitted a racially aggravated public order offence at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Kate Macnab, defending, said her client had been falsely accused of stealing an Asian man’s wallet in the pub and was venting his frustration at that.
She said James, of Orchard Way, Wantage, had been drinking heavily at a cousin’s wedding reception in the Ladygrove estate.
He had arrived at the pub at about 1am.
She said her client had not aimed his words at the police or pub staff and it was highly unlikely anyone inside the venue would have heard him.
Chairman of magistrates Lynn Dowler handed James a 18-month conditional discharge and told him to pay £85 costs.
