MENTION is made in the Oxford Mail of efforts to reduce overstocking of armed forces’ stores in storage.
Several years ago, such efforts were made at the Central Ordance Depot, Bicester.
Nosebags for mules were listed for disposal (I believe they had been used in Hong Kong in later years).
I was informed that the Household Cavalry objected as nosebags were used on chargers’ (horses) hooves to prevent slipping when traversing a slope at the Knightsbridge Barracks.
