The NHS generally has very negative comments, but it should be recognised for its good work.

I recently went to the John Radcliffe Hospital for a late but needed pacemaker appointment.

I was seen within 10 minutes when a problem was identified with my pacemaker.

The reason for the late appointment was that they changed the computer system and many pacemaker patients were lost, including me.

The battery in my pacemaker had gone into emergency back-up, as it was running out and dangerously low.

The duty registrar was called at 1pm and I was informed that it required replacing urgently.

By 2pm, I had a bed in the cardiac day surgery unit, was seen by the surgeon at 3pm and on the table at 3.20pm.

The operation lasted about 40 minutes to an hour and I was on my way home at 8pm.

The speed and the care I received was second to none and I was kept informed during the whole process.

The delay was caused by bureaucratic errors as expected.

However, the frontline NHS staff were fantastic and should be recognised for the great treatment I received yesterday.

To all of those involved – THANK YOU.
