IN REPLY to Ian Cummings (Oxford Mail, July 9), he has an obvious love of this nasty coalition Government and the destruction and privatisation of the NHS.

He talks of the need to cut administration that the Tory darling Margaret Thatcher famously pushed forward in the 1980s.

He states figures on the NHS budget which sees several private companies leeching out its finances.

Without irony, he then mentions the huge pension fund that is also undergoing cuts.

This nasty Government has always been against the NHS, ably supported by the likes of Mr Cummings.

But we will not tolerate the destruction of this service. Reform is fine, but not this way and not replacing it with private companies.

I have worked in a large privatised industry that like the railways, was and is a financial disaster to the users and there is a genuine case to take these “jewels” back into public hands.

I really don’t believe the majority of people mind change – but not at the expense of closing wards, hospitals and the sacking of doctors, nurses and health-workers by the thousand.

I hope the next time this correspondent finds himself in front of one of these well-paid nurses, he makes himself known.
