I wonder how many believe, as I do, that the Olympics has got too big for its original purpose and, including professional tennis players and footballers, plus circus acts and synchronised swimming, denigrate the spirit.
Why don’t the various nations set up a fund and build a permanent home (in Greece), which can be renovated and improved every four years cheaply and quickly?
The infrastructure legacy argument does not stand up historically.
