THE attempt by the Conservative-controlled county council to stop the high-speed railway between London and Birmingham is a disgrace.
Investment in HS2 is just what we need to get Britain out of its double-dip recession.
We need the kind of vision that inspired people like Isambard Kingdom Brunel to build the Victorian railways.
High-speed rail will be good for the environment and replace lots of damaging journeys by car and aeroplane in the UK.
Even Prime Minister David Cameron realises Britain’s second high-speed rail link will have a positive impact on the whole economy, including here in Oxfordshire.
The construction of HS2 will be very good news for jobs and businesses locally.
But the Oxfordshire Tories are living in the Dark Ages.
They are doing all they can to lose jobs and investment for our county.
