I at my wits' end trying to get my mother’s rubbish removed from her house on a fortnightly basis.

She should be on the assisted collection service, as she is disabled. But after numerous telephone calls and emails, her rubbish remains and is building up in her back porch.

I have sent a form back to Oxford City Council, which they sent to her dated May 2, 2012, requesting the continuing, although sporadic, service to carry on for the next year. They have no record of this.

Back in October 2011 (the letter I sent on April 4, 2011, was mislaid, so the reply was received six months later on October 27), a field officer was sent to assess the ongoing situation but he went to the wrong house.

He spoke to the occupant, who was clearly not disabled, and concluded that an assisted collection service was not required. A letter was sent to my mother telling her to ‘present her bins at her property boundary.’ The recycling collection crew reported that the bins had not been presented on March 24 and April 7, 2011. No surprise there.

At the moment she has an extremely full and smelly green bin and somebody else’s blue recycling bin and a brown garden bin, both of which have been emptied and returned to her front door.

We are awaiting a visit from a field officer to assess the situation again.
