Sir – I am personally very conscious that it has not been possible for me to thank everyone who has contributed time, money, and effort to the Jubilee Fund for Oxfordshire. I hope this letter can express my heartfelt thanks to all Jubilee Fund supporters across the county.

It has been an incredible and very royal six months for the Oxfordshire Community Foundation. It started with His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex launching our Jubilee Fund in January, and last week we were part of the Diamond Jubilee Garden Party in Henley.

The garden party was a wonderful sunny occasion and many Oxfordshire residents celebrated with us having been picked via a public ballot. They were joined by a selection of community groups and celebrity guests.

Sir Terry Wogan described the work of Community Foundations as ‘very important’ and said: “There is a lot of poverty in all three counties’ Oxfordshire Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, and what we are trying to do is to get people to come together and help locally.”

It would be inappropriate to single out the many generous individuals, schools, and businesses who have helped us raise many thousands of pounds, but undoubtedly The Oxford Times, Oxford Mail and Christ Church have contributed greatly to our success.

I sincerely hope Oxfordshire will continue to embrace the Queen’s hope for ‘neighbourliness’, and if anyone hasn’t yet donated to the Jubilee Fund, please visit us at www.oxfordshire.org to find out how you can get involved.

Jayne Woodley, Chief Executive, Oxfordshire Community Foundation, Oxford
