Richard Bryant should get his facts right about the lottery funding for play and leisure facilities in Wood Farm (Oxford Mail ViewPoints, June 25).

Oxford City Council’s former north east area committee, parks department staff, the Churchill Community Tenants and Residents’ Association (and former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who I spoke to about the issue) all worked hard to get the lottery grant.

This money was spent on facilities for children, youths and adults, not just children, as Mr Bryant stated.

The association has worked hard for years to get things done for Wood Farm. We have always worked for the people and we are all volunteers.

Mr Bryant should go on to the Oxford Mail website and see some of our hard work we have achieved and are still doing and how the Oxford Mail has supported us on many occasions.

If he has a grievance with the shoestring budget to run the youth club, a group that we have always encouraged, then write to the people concerned, not about us.

Better still, the association’s annual meeting is next month – come along and put your hand up to run it, because we are all retiring after many long years.

Get your facts right, walk round the new areas, see how many have been refurbished in the past five years for all ages.

There are a lot of people out there who have worked damned hard. The councillors are always doing their best to get improvements to play and leisure facilities.
