PLANS for six affordable homes in Mollington, near Banbury, will not go ahead, a planning inspector has ruled.

The Cascade Partnership cited a lack of affordable housing in the village and said the Chestnut Road site was its only option.

But Cherwell District Council turned down the scheme in August last year, saying there is no need for the type of homes proposed and they would be out of keeping with the character of the area.

The developer appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, which this week backed the council's decision.

It said there was no need for the planned homes at Deejay Farm.

More than 40 villagers opposed the planning application last year, citing concerns over extra traffic and the lack of demand for affordable homes.
