AN 11-year-old boy had his foot crushed by a double decker school bus yesterday morning.

The Icknield Community College pupil was airlifted to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital after the incident in Stadhampton at about 8.15am.

The Tappins coach involved was picking up about 30 youngsters from the Stadhampton Green stop by School Lane to take them to the Watlington school.

The bus serves the 3003 school route and collects pupils from Chislehampton, Stadhampton, and Chalgrove.

A replacement bus was sent to pick up pupils after the accident, which blocked the A329 while the air ambulance and police were at the scene.

  • Widespread tailbacks were also reported on the A34 at Oxford after a two-car accident by South Hinksey and a fuel spillage by the Botley Interchange.

The crash happened at about 9am and two people, including a 70-year-old woman, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries.

One lane of the southbound road was later closed after a vehicle broke down and spilt fuel at about 11.30am.
