A FORMER chairman of Age Concern Oxford, Yvonne Ann Price, has died after a long illness, aged 82.

Mrs Price, from Horton-cum-Studley, was married to the author Anthony Price, who edited The Oxford Times and its associated weekly newspapers for 16 years from 1972.

Mrs Price, who was known as Ann, trained as a state registered nurse at the old Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford.

Subsequently, she became a staff nurse at theInfirmary and sister on the accident and emergency ward. Later she transferred to the Churchill Hospital, serving on the cancer wards. For a number of years she was matron of Bicester School.

She was keenly interested in voluntary work in the community. She was president of the Oxford branch of Soroptimist International, and later president of the organisation’s London Chilterns Region.

She was chairman of both Age Concern Oxford and the Oxford branch of the Abbeyfield Society.

Mrs Price was also chairman of the governors of Beckley CofE Primary School for several years.

Mrs Price is survived by her husband and three children, Simon, James and Kate.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday, May 30, at Oxford Crematorium at 11.30am.
