THE news that Oxford is to become an electric car hub (Oxford Mail, May 16) is just the jolt we need.
Investment in Oxford’s low-carbon future will bring electric cars within reach for thousands of residents.
The Chargemaster and Herz link-up, backed by Brookes University, will create new jobs, mean quieter motoring and help to tackle climate change. As petrol prices soar and companies struggle to obtain oil from tar-sands and ‘fracking’, it is clear we need a new technology.
The successful electric Mini trials in Oxford showed the way forward.
Now the Polar charge-point network is a welcome vote of confidence in our city’s prosperous future.
