Loads of vehicles prepare for the rally

Car enthusiasts are getting in gear for the eighth annual Wallingford Vehicle Rally and Parade.

From racing cars to farm machinery, all types of vehicles will be represented at the event on Sunday, May 13, on Kinecroft.

Over the years, the show has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Television motoring presenter Mike Brewer, of shows including Wheeler Dealers and Wrecks to Riches, will join compere and former town mayor Marcus Harris for the show which will also include commercial and military vehicles and motorcycles.

A parade of vehicles will leave Wallingford Sports Park in Hithercroft Road at 11am to tour the town centre before arriving at Kinecroft.

As they arrive, displays in the central arena will get under way, including a demonstration by the local emergency services.

There will be the chance to ride in a classic or sports car in return for a donation to charity, including a Rolls-Royce, an Aston Martin, an Audi R8 and a hot rod.

Mr Brewer will be hosting a charity auction at the SeeSaw charity tent with the star prize, donated by the Williams F1 team at Grove, of a guided tour of their factory and museum.

One of the organisers Neal Reed said: “This is a unique and amazing chance to view and really get up close to the history of this very successful F1 team.”
