HALLOWEEN may be six months away, but an Oxfordshire landmark has a scary new addition reflecting its spooky past.
Legend has it a would-be king and his men were turned to stone by a witch and remain as The Rollright Stones, north of Chipping Norton.
Now it has a unique sculpture of the witch, made from bendy wellingtonia wood by a team led by Banbury artist David Gosling.
The 68-year-old said: “I am really happy with it. It is spooky, but spooky is good.”
Rollright Stones trustee Robin Smitten said: “He approached us and we jumped at it because of the legend.”
It is hoped the sculpture will remain at the site over the summer.
