THE proprietor of an Oxford bar and restaurant has been convicted of attacking a customer.

Hugh Anderson, 67, left, who runs the Hi Lo Jamaican Eating House in Cowley Road, East Oxford, was convicted of unlawful wounding by jurors at Reading Crown Court.

He attacked customer Sean Tizard at the venue in the early hours of Sunday, October 3, 2010.

Anderson was cleared of possessing an offensive weapon and a more serious offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Mr Tizard, a social worker who was visiting Oxford from London, suffered cuts to his face, hands and chest.

Friend Will Bowden-Green, who was with Mr Tizard that night, said: “We are very pleased it’s all over. It was a serious and unprovoked attack.”

Anderson, of Cowley Road, was bailed on Monday for probation reports to be compiled and will be sentenced in Reading on May 10.
