Sir – I met a charming elderly chap in Wallingford town square this morning, a man whose family has lived in the town for five generations, and he told me a lovely story. Many years ago he worked, part-time, as a taxi driver, and one day he was tasked with taking Agatha Christie and her partner to London, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Mousetrap.
Tragedy struck when, as they approached London. Ms Christie said: “I have forgotten my teeth”.
I don’t know how they resolved this problem, but they apparently went to the home of Sylvia Sims where matters were rectified. Some interesting people in Wallingford.
