BY reducing the tax relief for pensioners in Chancellor George Osborne’s Budget last month, the Coalition Government has succeeded in discouraging more and more of the population from providing for themselves in their old age.
The extra tax allowance was intended to encourage people to save and not be a burden on the taxpayers in the working population.
In consequence, the tax cut will be of diminishing returns.
